  • PIAŢA PACII / PEACE SQUARE

All squares on the perimeter of the original walled city are dominated by car traffic in Cluj. PIAŢA PĂCII / PEACE SQUARE has turned during the 20th century into a node for several routes related to the thick university life within the city. Further more, The Central University Library and the Student’s Cultural Centre both flank the square. Therefore, car routes should criss-cross underground, and free space should be provided above to be taken over. Vienna hilft Klausenburg out with second hand MQ urban furniture and the first Transylvania Anime Festival makes it’s weird ways among the students, always chillin’ […]

Competition entry. Theoretical / methodological plea against the mere pavement-pattern and urban furniture design approach in not only local “urbanism”. Landscape-ecology systemic view of nodes and channels was speculated for dealing with the improvement of groud-floor public functions structure that would provide for complex public life in the square and vice versa. Our thinking got too complicated at that time, but at least it has cleared a direction that is worth tackling ever since. Immersion into the urban system of networks and emerging processes is necessary in a period of peaking superficial concept urbanism

  • PANEL PARA

The workshop organized by fellow Memoria Moderna association of Budapest has assumed dealing conceptually with the flat neighbourhood legacy for one of the first times around “the block” in 2005. The workshop lead by the ever astonishing no.mad architect Eduardo Arroyo has provided the original blipsz! team one of the most inspiring design processes of their professional lifes so far. We have designed a second public landscape above the “unsolvable” original parking layer, that eventually merges with the ground floor. The new layer houses all the functions needed for a balanced function mix additional to housing and provides actually usable […]
